Why SOS?

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys doing solid accounting work and improving how it gets done, likes structure without rigidity, wants meaningful responsibility without full-time hours, and is energized by where accounting is going—automation, better systems, and higher-value client work.

Where We’re Going

You can read about who we are and where we’ve been on our About page; let’s talk about where we’re going, and how fast.

Since we hired Staff Member #2 in 2020, we have grown as fast as our staffing would allow. Our only constraint to growth is enough skilled leadership to screen, onboard, and systematize new clients while training new staff to take over day-to-day roles. We have never spent $1 on advertising beyond our website, which was primarily built for recruitment purposes. We receive more new business referrals than we can accommodate. The old rule of thumb is, when you are turning away business, it’s time to grow.

Who Will Want This Job?

There are all sorts of amazing people in the world, so we can’t really predict. But, based on experience of successful employees to date, we believe this job will appeal a person who:

  1. Feels genuine satisfaction doing a job well and using their skills to make the world better through the very specific channel of accounting and business back-office

  2. Thinks big, notices and observes, whose first impulse is to say “yes” but has the judgement to sometimes say “no”

  3. Loves to learn, loves to teach, loves to make things continually better by breaking down big problems into achievable, measurable progress

  4. Is an entrepreneur at heart, excited about opportunities, quick and efficient: no “punch the clock” mentality

What We Offer

Our staff earn a solid hourly wage augmented by generous profit-sharing. We offer a SIMPLE IRA, telephone stipend for use of your personal phone, educational benefits, and a company computer.

We have employees working nearly around the clock, as they choose. Our excellent IT environment makes work-sharing and hand-off seamless.

Especially, what we offer is a bright future of your own making, within a well-respected company providing a vital service to a critical sector of the economy. We’re looking for leaders and doers: if you are moved by this story, please apply.
